At the time of the file review and the on-site inspection our information revealed that no work had begun. However, according to information relayed to this office on December 1, 1995; American Exploration Company was scheduled to begin the testing phase of the Site Characterization Plan on December 12th. According to National Park Service Personnel at the time of this writing American Exploration Company's contractor is in the process of moving in with a crew, portable lab and associated equipment. The sampling phase is expected to last 2 to 3 days and is being monitored periodically by Park Service personnel.
