The present study indicates two-dimensional areas lost to erosion. It does not take intoaccount the volume of sediment lost, nor does it differentiate between sediment types – sand and silt/clay. When eroded, sands are more likely to be deposited near shore, whereas finer sediments are more likely to remain suspended in the water column.
