It has been four years since American Exploration acquired existing oil and gas operations from Oryx Energy Company. American Exploration Company ratified Oryx's plans of operations on February 13, 1990, under the condition that any deficiencies identified by the National Park Service in a re-evaluation would be corrected. The ratified plans of operations were determined to be unacceptable due to a lack of sufficient detail and information. On April 16, 1990, the National Park Service advised American Exploration Company of deficiencies to the ratified plans.
