Hunter JD. 1996. To: Fox R. Re: Hunter_1990_NotificationOfRequirementsOfAmericanExplorationFollowingNewOwnership

We recently received a letter from Oryx Energy Company stating that American Exploration Company has obtained ownership of its properties located on Padre Island National Seashore, Dunn McCampbell and Laguna st. A-233 leases. As per 36 CFR (9.38) Regulations, our Regional Director has granted American Exploration a 60-day operators permit to continue operations. American Exploration Company will have 60 days from January 1, 1990 to either adopt the Plan of Operation for Oryx Energy Company (formerly Sun Exploration & Production Company) or submit a new plan. If American Exploration chooses to adopt the Oryx Plan of Operations, we must receive a notarized letter stating such before the expiration of the 60-day deadline. American Exploration Company must also submit a notarized Affidavit of Compliance (reference Oryx's Plan of Operation) and must tender to the National Park Service a performance bond of $200,000. We have enclosed for your review copy of 36 CFR 9B regulations and a copy of the June 30, 1989 Federal Register listing all companies that can handle federal bonds.
