American Exploration assumed ownership of existing oil and gas operations within Padre Island National Seashore from Oryx Energy Company (formerly Sun Exploration and Production Company), on December 1, 1989. On February 12, 1990, American Exploration ratified Sun's approved plan of operations dated March 15, 1984, as amended. Rather than submit supplemental information to amend the ratified plan, American Exploration chose to prepare a new plan of operations for its operations within the national seashore. Park and Southwest Regional Office staff have reviewed the second draft plan of operations addressing continuing operation of existing oil and gas activities within Padre Island National Seashore. The following comments are offered to assist you in correcting deficiencies and completing the plan of operations.
