This study is the first of a set of research projects directed at determining the causes of necrotic needle symptoms of eastern white pine at Acadia National Park. The objectives of the survey were to investigate disease patterns at three levels; among National Parks which contain Pinus strobus populations, among Pinus strobus stands at Acadia National Park, and within stands in which necrotic needle injury was encountered.
