Factors Affecting the Distribution of Pinus Pungens, An Appalachian Endemic

Zobel DB. 1969. Factors Affecting the Distribution of Pinus Pungens, An Appalachian Endemic. Ecological Monographs. 39(3):303-333

The Pinus Pungens has caused great interest because it is rare and there are large areas where it has not been reported. When it is present, it is usually in small populations restricted to a site which seems least favorable to tree growth. This study was conducted in order to delineate the conditions where the Pinus Pungens occurs and to determine what factors differentiate the habitat of the species from adjoining ones.
