The Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge (JBWR) was established in 1953 by the City ofNew York. In 1972 the land passed into the hands of the National Park Service as part of Gateway National Recreation Area.This conmpilation enumerates 325 species of birds-recorded at the Refuge through Feb. 1994.
