Optimal Sampling Designs for Monitoring Plant Frequency

Heywood JS and DeBacker MD. 2007. Optimal Sampling Designs for Monitoring Plant Frequency. Rangeland Ecology & Management. 60(4):426-434

This journal article examines the statistical efficiency of frequency data, with respect to inferences on plant density, as a function of plot sizes for drawing inferences on plant density from frequency data. The relationship between statistical efficiency and the physical proximity of aggregated plots are reviewed in order to provide a comprehensive set of recommendations for collecting frequency data.
