Vegetation phenology is the timing of seasonal patterns in vegetation growth, and provides an integrative measure of seasonal and long term climate patterns and their impact on vegetation growth. Key phenological indicators include the date of initiation of vegetation growth or ‘start of season’ (SOS), the date of secession of vegetation growth or ‘end of season’ (EOS), and the dates of minimum and maximum greenness.
