This Resource Management Plan (RMP) for Acadia National Park (ACAD) documents the area's diverse natural and cultural resources, identifies threats to these resources, and prescribes action programs designed to manage and protect them. A variety of activities, including baseline inventories, long-term monitoring, research, maintenance, and visitor education, management and enforcement are integrated into a comprehensive resource management program. The RMP serves as the primary plan for addressing critical resource issues and problems at ACAD and in effect is the action plan for other more general Park planning documents.
