Geovisualisation: The Rescue of Hemlock Trees

Landscape visualisaiton goes a long way in tackling environmental impact. It has been a boon in mitigating the invasion of HWA and saving the ecosystem. Landscape visualization using three dimensional perspective views has emerged as an important tool of research in mitigating environmental impacts. Landscape visualisation is gaining much attention in the areas of planning, and forestry practices. Visualisation techniques are recognized by many as useful components. This work abides by existing methods of producing landscape visualisations which meet the needs of both scientist and lay persons to better understand some of the implications of extensive dieback of eastern hemlock (Tsuga canadensis L.) due to the invasion of the exotic Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA) (Adelges tsugae Annand) in Great Smoky Mountains National Park in the Appalachian Mountain area of southeastern US.
