The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is conducting an inventory of the nation's wetlands through its National Wetlands Inventory Program (NWI). The primary products of the NWI are large-scale wetland maps, digital data, and reports on wetland status and trends. To date, approximately 90 percent of the conterminous United States has been mapped, with digital wetland data produced for about 30 percent of the lower 48 states. To accomplish the NWI, the Service relies on cooperative funding. In 1995, the National Park Service provided cost sharing funds to the Service for conducting a wetlands inventory for the Saratoga National Historical Park in eastern New York. The Service produced a set of large-scale (1:24,000) NWI maps and corresponding digital data (for geographic information system usage) for the Park. The purpose of this report is to summarize the results of the NWI for Saratoga National Historical Park.
