The Rocky Mountain Region received funding of an initiative, in the fiscal years 1991-93 for an assessment of needs relative to bighorn sheep. Bighorn sheep status and needs in the Rocky Mountain Region were assessed with these Natural Resource Preservation Program (NRPP) funds. The eventual goal of the initiative is to restore bighorn sheep to all occupiable historic habitat in and adjacent to National Parks, Monuments, and Recreation Areas (units).
