This study provides a preliminary estimate of several hydrologic variables associated with Cedar Swamp Bog, High Point State Park, Sussex, NJ. Precipitation at the site varies seasonally, with lows occutring during the late fall and winter. Evapotranspiration wasdeterminedusing Thornthwaite's equation for potential evapotranspirat1on. During the growing season, approximately April 15 - October 15, estimated evapotranspiration is 90% of the annual evapotranspiration, the remaining evapotranspiration occurrin# during the non-growing season. During this latter season, however, discharge, which was measured with a weir, constituted about 72% of the annual discharge. Change in storage and groundwater influx are considered negligible due to the hydraulic equilibrium maintained by a stream that discharges from the Bog and the low permeability of the Shawangunk Conglomerate bedrock.
