As part of this nationwide effort, the Chihuahuan Desert Network of the National Park Service entered into a cooperative agreement with the School of Natural Resources at the University of Arizona to conduct a two-year inventory of reptiles and amphibians in six network parks – Amistad National Recreation Area, TX, Big Bend National Park, TX, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, NM, Fort Davis National Historic Site, TX, Guadalupe Mountains National Park, TX, and White Sands National Monument, NM. This inventory took place from May to September 2003 and June to September 2004.
