Cape Lookout National Seashore 2003 sea turtle monitoring program

Cordes J and Rikard M. 2003. Cape Lookout National Seashore 2003 sea turtle monitoring program. Harkers Island, North Carolina

This report summarizes the 2003 project, consolidating many years of data and makes recommendations for management of these federally protected loggerhead turtles. Cape Lookout is a significant northern nesting beach and supports among the highest number of loggerhead turtle nests in North Carolina. Each year data have been collected, analyzed, and presented to management in hopes of better protecting our marine turtle population. This report will summarize the 2003 project, consolidate many years of data and make recommendations for management of these federally protected species. In addition to providing CALO with management data, the information gathered on CALO beaches continues to be an important link for many state, federal, and private Atlantic coast sea turtle managers.
