This unpublished report includes the data and analysis files for the project "A Comparative Evaluation of Physical and Biological Habitat Parameters at the mouths of open and closed tidal creeks in the Timucuan Preserve." The project analyzed the heavy metals and organics concentration in sediments and also the bioaccumulation of metals and organics in the oysters. The project, as conducted by Sandra Fox and George Dennis, examined the quantities of contaminants in sediments and oysters that were either near Heckscher Drive (a major industrial right) or near industrial sites and compared the samples to those taken from distant sites. The samples were tested for concentrations of heavy metals and polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons. This study was a result of a research project that was examining the potential of re-opening both Hannah Mills Creek and Cedar Point Creek. These two creeks had been either completely blocked or partially blocked during the construction of Heckscher Drive. This project was unfinished as it does not contain a complete analysis of the results, provide a discussion or make any recommendations. Only the background, materials and methods, results, hard data and an incomplete analysis are included in the document.
