The document focuses on the methods and reasoning for sampling all of the fauna that existed on the Oysterbed Island back in 1937. The island under review for purchase by the National Park Service and the NPS was curious as to what called the island home and what could be used for development or commercial enterprises. Eyles found that the island had one of the largest nesting colonies of Black Skimmers on the Georgia coast while also having the largest breeding colonies of Least Terns. The island was considered a haven for migrating shorebirds because it offered prime habitat. Eyles also included recommendations for the possible protection and management of the island for the eventual purchase by the NPS.
