National Park ServiceThomas Colson. 2011. 3-m Topographic Position Index

The Topographic Position Index is the primary Topographic Position data product produced and distributed by the National Park Service, Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Topographic Position Index provides the best available public domain raster landform data of the conterminous park boundary footprint in a seamless format. The Topographic Position Index is derived from diverse source data, processed to a common coordinate system and unit of vertical measure. All Topographic Position data are distributed in Universal Transverse Mercator in units of meters, and in conformance with the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD 83).
