Vegetation Mapping Inventory Project for Everglades National Park

Cook TL. Vegetation Mapping Inventory Project for Everglades National Park. 2005-2020

The Everglades National Park (EVER) Vegetation Mapping Inventory Project is part of the NPS Vegetation Mapping Inventory Program (VMI). The vegetation map for EVER is being completed in conjunction with the vegetation map for Big Cypress National Preserve (BICY). Both EVER and BICY vegetation maps are being completed in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. As such, some of the methodology for this joint EVER-BICY vegetation map are different than standard program products. The current mapping system uses gridded cells 50m x 50m across the landscape where dominant vegetation is mapped. Extensive field data are used as in both training, and to assess map accuracy.
