A description of a Pleistocene clay bed found at the southern end of MDI, filled with postglacial marine fossils. Goose Cove is noted for a deposit of Pleistocene clays rich in well-preserved fossils. Roughly 300 mollusk shells were collected and identified. All shells were identified and the abundance of each species in the fossil bed estimated. For each species found in the fossil bed, abundance was estimated for Frenchman Bay. The clays also contained barnacles and Bryozoa. Species common in the Pleistocene clays were either lacking or extremely rare in Frenchman Bay, but were common on the Labrador coast.
