A description of the intertidal zone on Mount Desert Island. FIELD WORK: 1972 - 1973 INVERTEBRATES: Four areas near Thunder Hole were scraped and scoured with a wire brush. Post-larval barnacle and Blue Mussel settlement and survival were estimated. Percent cover of invertebrates in each area was estimated monthly. FLORA - ALGAE: Notes 9 algal species in the plots. Studied barnacle and mussel recruitment in relation to algae /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /MOUNT DESERT ISLAND/Thunder Hole/
