A discussion of the equilibrium of animals on islands. MAMMALS: Studied the distribution, immigration, and extinction of non-volant terrestrial mammals on 26 islands in the Gulf of Maine. Concludes that 'some insular populations may be relictual, the faunal composition of most of these islands is dependent on recurrent colonizaiton, much of which takes place over ice bridges.'
