Air Quality/Water Quality: Describes the decline of red spruce at low elevations on the Maine Coast (including Isle au Haut) as related to pH of fog and rain, ozone, and canopy throughfall. Presents mean (3.26) and lowest (2.90) pH fog readings for 1985, highest ozone reading (.140ppm) and number of hours ozone was above .08 ppm April - October 1984 (88 hours). FLORA - VASCULAR: Analyzed Isle au Haut spruce forests for signs of decline. Measured individual tree ring growth - average age of trees cored was 63, with a range between 36 and 98 years.
