The Abbe Museum's frenchman bay survey - an historic perspective

Kopec D. 1987. The Abbe Museum's frenchman bay survey - an historic perspective. Maine Archaeological Society Bulletin. 27(1):3-23

ARCHEOLOGY: This report focused on Mount Desert Island, Trenton and smaller offshore islands. Kopec located and analyzed local collections, identified and located sites that produced these collections, located additional sites, and made recommendations for possible nomination to the national register of Historic Places. 'The field priority was to locate previously recorded sites for the purposes of verification and further documentation.' 'Sixty-two site locations were visited during the 1985 survey. Of these, 30 had been previously recorded but required verification and further documentation; 32 additional sites were located 'in route'. Severe erosion, compounded by human activity, has greatly impacted sites in the study area.' /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /MOUNT DESERT ISLAND/ISLANDS/
