Collected samples from the forest floor and foliage at 7 red spruce stands on Mount Desert Island as part of a larger study on the impacts of nitrogen deposition across the northeastern United States. Determined potential net nitrogen mineralization, nitrification, elemental soil and foliage analysis, soil pH and spruce-fir mortality.
