Orientation of cobble and boulder beach clasts
Ogren DE and Waag CJ. 1986. Orientation of cobble and boulder beach clasts. Sedimentary Geology. 47:69-76
'This study of cobble- and boulder-sized clast orientations in pocket beaches indicates that the L-I planes(?) dip seaward at angles steeper than the foreshore slope and that the modal dip direction is generally not(?) perpendicular to the shoreline trend. L-axes are oriented parallel, perpendicular, and at about 45o to the beach trend. Shoreline trends based on orientation data may be estimated incorrectly by as much as 30o(?) because of wave refraction.' /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /MOUNT DESERT ISLAND/Hunter Cove/Bracy Cove/
