The lichens of Acadia National Park, Maine
Sullivan TJ. 1986. The lichens of Acadia National Park, Maine. American Journal of Botany. 73(5):612
FIELD WORK: Summers 1983-1985. FLORA - LICHEN: Over 5500 lichens from 85 different localities were collected in the Park during 1983-1985. A total of 38 genera and 165 species of macrolichens were identified. Of this total, 15 genera and 105 species are new records for the park. AIR QUALITY: Baseline lichen data were collected to assess air quality of the park. Such data includes distribution maps of 4 species known to be sensitive to low levels of SO2, elemental analysis, species fertility, and presence of species most sensitive to SO2. Results indicate lichens within the park are not being adversely affected by air pollution /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /MOUNT DESERT ISLAND/ISLE AU HAUT/SCHOODIC PENINSULA
