Contains a series of 106 slides and a description of what is shown in each of the slides. Summary of findings: '1. There was little difference between degree of damage and pathological anatomy of that damage from materials subjected to carbon-filtered air or 3-X ambient ozone; 2. The pathological anatomy of that damage was distinctly and consistently different from that previously described for ozone damage; 3. The blighting of elongating current-year needles of white pine throughout the northeast is consistently associated with a previously undescribed genus and species of needlecast fungus; 4. The pathological anatomy of infected parent trees was virtually identical to that previously described by Lonzon as 'semimature-tissue needle blight', except that we found fungus hyphae always associated with both healthy-appearing and dying and dead cells; 5. The pathological anatomy of the dying infected tissues was identical to that described by Hartig in 1874 as caused by the needlecasts of fir and spruce.' /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /ACADIA NATIONAL PARK/
