From Introduction, 'The purpose of this project was to create a monitoring program to provide a benchmark of current conditions and facilitate the evaluation of changes related to non-catastrophic environmental alterations' FIELD WORK: October, 1987; May and October, 1988; June, July, and October, 1989. INVERTEBRATES: Set up 2 mudflat sites and 2 rocky intertidal sites that were designed to provide a benchmark of current conditions and to facilitate the evaluation of changes in sea level and accumulation of toxic chemicals. Species collected at the 2 mudflat sites were from the following phyla: Annelida (26), Platyhelminthes (present), Mollusca (7), Crustaceae (15), Echinodermata (1), Sipuncula (1), and Hemichordata (1) /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /MOUNT DESERT ISLAND/Thompson Island/Otter Cove/Compass Harbor/Thunder Hole/
