A monitoring study on macrofaunal creatures in the Acadia National Park intertidal, intended to be a reference in future studies on intertidal changes due to sea level rise, etc. FIELD WORK: October, 1987; May and October, 1988; June, July, and October, 1989. INVERTEBRATES: Set up 2 mudflat sites and 2 rocky intertidal sites that were designed to provide a benchmark of current conditions and to facilitate the evaluation of changes in sea level and accumulation of toxic chemicals. Species collected at the 2 mudflat sites were from the following phyla: Annelida (26), Platyhelminthes (present), Mollusca (7), Crustaceae (15), Echinodermata (1), Sipuncula (1), and Hemichordata (1). Contains an appendix of maps of barnacle distribution in the upper quadrats of two stations at Compass Harbor and one station at Thunder Hole from October 1987 to October 1989 /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /MOUNT DESERT ISLAND/Thompson Island/Otter Cove/Compass Harbor/Thunder Hole/
