Biological significance of islands proposed to be conserved within the boundary limits of Acadia National Park. Three 1s1ands were chosen out of the group of seven to carry out the study. Pond 247A,Sheep 36 and Eagle 4A, make up the group. Those three islands show a very different and also a large variety of ecosystems. They are an excellent group for basic ecological data and comparative studies. Seven different communities were found on the three islands; grassy, spruce-fir forest, deciduous forest, alder bush, pond, bog (very wet) and a beach community. /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /ISLANDS/Pond Island/
