'The following report on Arethusa bulbosa was prepared for Maine' s Critical Areas Program. This program was established by an act of the legislature in 1974 which directed the State Planning Office to develop an official Register of Critical Areas and to encourage and coordinate the conservation of such areas as part of its overall responsibility for comprehensive statewide planning and coordination of planning activities.' Reports known and reported Arethusa stations in Maine, includes: Big Heath and Sunken Heath on Mount Desert Island and Great Meadow on Isle au Haut. Forma albiflora was found at Big Heath.
