'Brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis), are being selectively mated at Tomah Lake, T10 R3N, Washington County, to attempt development of a brood stock that will provide trout of relatively great longevity for management purposes.' 'The objective of this ongoing study is to develop, through selective mating, a brood stock of brook trout capable of producing significant numbers of progeny with the potential. ability to live for at least 2 years after they are planted. Primary use of the genotype, if it can be developed and maintained, will be toprovide planting stocks for those natural habitats with characteristics that favor a rapid growth rate and expression of the potential longevity among the planted fish.' /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /MOUNT DESERT ISLAND/Eagle Lake/
