WATER QUALITY: Tested existing watershed-wide nonpoint source pollutant loading models for applicability to Acadia National Park. Recommends GWLF (Generalized Watershed Loading Functions) which is a menu driven hybrid model with the ability to differentiate among land use types. GWLF can handle watershed erosion, sediment runoff, tatal and dissolved nitrogen and phosphorus, as well as basic hydrological parameters. Old Mill Brook (rural with some agricultural activity and residential areas), Marshall Brook watershed (rural, residential, commercial), and Upper Hadlock Brook watershed (rural) were chosen as representitive watersheds and baseflow and stream flow sampling was conducted. GWLF model was test run on these watersheds.
