A Management Plan for the Unregistered Coastal Islands of Maine (Draft)

Conkling PW, Timson BS, National Park Service, Acadia National Park. 1978. A Management Plan for the Unregistered Coastal Islands of Maine (Draft). Maine

This report documents the ownership of unregistered coastal islands and attempts to create a standard operating procedure which deals with the islands individual. The Coastal Island Registry was established in 1973 to ascertain the true ownership of coastal islands, and thereby to determine which islands still rightfully belonged to the people of Maine. Most coastal islands were required to be registered with the Coastal Island Registry by December 31, 1975. Those not registered are to be held in trust by the State of Maine. The unregistered islands, presently numbering 1,29.9 and distributed all along the Maine coast, are the subject of this management plan. /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /MAINE/ISLANDS/ Note: Physical holding is divided into 6 separate folders, all located within Box 7.5 of the Resource Management Bibliography**
