'In this study, we report the extent of genetic diversity of seven relict jack pine populations in Acadia National Park and compare this variability with other central and marginal jack pine populations.' "Jack pine populations within Acadia National Park are genetically distinct from each other. In fact, an examination of gene frequencies and calculations of the degree of genetic differentiation among Acadia National Park populations and other central and marginal jack pine popUlations indicates that several Acadia National Park populations are genetically unique. Whalesback jack pine appear to be the mostgenetically unique of all eleven central and marginal jack pine populations that we have examined.
