Mount Desert : the early French visits

Savage C. 1973. Mount Desert : the early French visits

'Interest has been expressed for some pamphlet-size recital of the French associations at Mount Desert, a brief early episode of the island's history at once romantic and of enduring significance. The actors and nationals have departed, never to return. But their traditions and their names, revived and preserved, have given us a back-ground of intriguing beguile for all time. Basically from original sources, these short accounts have been prepared to outline some of the facts of the early visits. Also however, certain comments by subsequent authors and researchers have been followed. To these there has been appended a list of place-names with related comment.' /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /MOUNT DESERT ISLAND/
