This report presents the results of a preliminary survey for breeding boreal owls in Acadia National Park at Isle au Haut and other areas in Maine. Historical records in ANP indicate that boreal owls have been noted at Isle au Haut during February of 1880. During 1997, they used the playback method to survey for boreal owls. Although no boreal owls were heard at Isle au Haut, saw-whet, barred, and great horned owls were heard or seen, including a great horned owl nest . Recommend continuing surveys in Acadia National Park, especially at Isle au Haut and other offshore islands. /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /ISLE AU HAUT/
