'The Acadia National Park Geographic-based Fire and Natural Resource Management Simulation System (AGEOFRSS) is a simulation tool designed to aid Park managers in long-term fire management planning in Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island (MDI).' Explains how to use this software system. This software is a simulation tool designed to aid park managers in long-term fire management planning on Mount Desert Island. 'The system features the ability to simulate fire behavior and dynamics of fuel-loadings and vegetative cover types under user-specified conditions and locations on the MDI landscape. It is designed as a collection of relatively independent commands easily accessed through a user-friendly graphical interface. Using these commands, customized simulation 'experiments' can be performed to delineate areas of potentially high fire danger, and test alternative fire-management scenarios to determine their effectiveness in achieving desired conditions.'
