'The main objective of this project is to undertake one of the first long-term, detailed paleoecological reconstructions of Holocene fire and vegetation history in eastern North America by means of fine resolution pollen/charcoal analysis. In so doing, we hope to document fire histories and fire-vegetation interactions for Acadia National Park, an area where the insights drawn from such studies has immediate and practical applications to park management programs.' /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /MOUNT DESERT ISLAND/
