Acadia National Park Water System Inventory and Recommendations

The study includes an inventory of the condition and operability of the potable water supplies and treatment systems in the park. Each system has been investigatedfor wellhead/aquifer protection, public safety, water quality (chemical analysis), and treatment required, and to check for compliance with the provisions of the Safe Drinking Water Act. Report lists the water systems included in this study along with their classification. Water quality tests were performed on 24 water supplies in the park, in the summer of 1995. Tests looked at arsenic, barium, cadmium, chromium, fluoride, lead, mercury, nitrate, selenium, silver, sodium, corrosivity, pH, zinc,chloride, color, copper, foaming agents, iron, manganese, odor, sulfate, tds, hardness, alkalinity, calcium, conductivity, chloroform, gross alpha, deviation, gross beta, turbidity, nitrite, thallium, cyanide, nickel, orthophosphate, silica, and beryllium.
