August PV and LaBash CL. 1996. Establishing data management and analysis strategies using a Geographic Information System (GIS) for coastal parks. Natural Resources Technical Report NPS/NESO-RNR/NRTR/96-12. National Park Service, New England System Support Office. Boston, MA

At Acadia National Park, a digital bathymetric model was constructed using contours and spot depths from a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) chart for Somes Sound, Acadia National Park, Maine. The volume of the Somes Sound estuary was calculated for low and high tide conditions using this model. Volume was also calculated for 5 cross-sections of Somes Sound.
