Neighbors of Acadia: An Inventory of Perceived Effects of Acadia National Park on the Quality of Life in Mt. Desert Island Communities
Ehrlenbach R. 1999. Neighbors of Acadia: An Inventory of Perceived Effects of Acadia National Park on the Quality of Life in Mt. Desert Island Communities
'By understanding the effects Acadia has on the surrounding communities, managers can apply this knowledge to find ways to better the relationship between the areas we try to preserve, resource managers, and the neighbors of these wilderness areas.' 'This research has shown that Acadia National Park (ANP) effects the residents of Mount Desert Island (MDI) in a multitude of ways. From this research one may draw conclusions as to which of these effects, on MDI residents' quality of life, requires immediate attention in order to avoid conflict between residents, the park, and the visitors of the park. Also it is in the best interest of the park to note those effects perceived, by the populace of MDI, to be positive and to determine how the park can continue effecting MDI residents positively.' /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /MOUNT DESERT ISLAND/
