From the executive summary: "On August 6 and 7, 2002, the National Park Service conducted a census of hikers on most of the hiking trails in Acadia National Park. The census is part of a monitoring programof hiker use of park trails. A total of 7,942 hikers were counted on Acadia's trails during the census.
