Mercury Concentration in Brook Tout (Salvelinus fontinalis) from Hadlock and Cannon Brooks, Acadia National Park

Brook Trout (Salvelinus fontinalis) were collected and analysed for mercury concentration from one site within each of Halock and Cannon Brooks. Cannon Brook fish had statistically significant higher levels of mercury (88 ng/g in Cannon vs. 42 ng/g in Hadlock). This difference is noted to be a result of habitat difference as Cannon Brook fish were collected form a beaver flowage, so eventhough Hadlock Brook has higher mercury levels, Cannon Brook fish illustrated higher mercury levels.
