' The purpose of this study was to gather information to assist the National Park Service in development of a new management plan for the Schoodic Peninsula section of Acadia National Park. The principle study objectives were to 1) collect baseline information on the number and type of visitors using the Schoodic Peninsula section of the park, 2)collect information that would assist in the formualiton of indicators and standards of quality for the visitor experience at the Schoodic Peninsula section of the park, and 3) collect information on the attitudes of visitors and Naval Base personnel on the future use of the Naval Base located at the Schoodic Peninsula section of the park. Principal study methods included 1) two surveys of park visitors conducted in the summers of 2000 and 2001, 2) counts of the number of visitors and cars at selected park sites, and 3) a survey of Naval Base personnel.'
