FIELD WORK: August 5 & 6, 2003 'On August 5 and 6, 2002, the National Park Service conducted a census of hikers on most of the hiking trails in Acadia National Park. This census is part of a monitoring program of hiker use of park trails. A total of 5,490 hikers were counted on Acadia's trails during the census.
