This report describes the mapping techniques used in 'U.S. Geological Survey - National Park Service vegetation mapping program: Acadia National Park , Lubinski et al. 2003' and describes procedures for assessing the accuracy of vegetation mapping. From Executive Summary, 'The aim of the National Park ServicelNational Biological Survey (NPSINBS) Vegetation Mapping Project is to map 237 Inventory and Monitoring Park units using a single, standard vegetation classification. The primary data to be utilized for the vegetation mapping is aerial photography combined with ancillary field data. The final output product will be a digital map of the vegetation.'
